The amount of student debt is not the problem. It shouldn't exist at all. A society dedicated to the ideal of equality would treat education as a commodity. Access to higher education should be a right, not a privilege. Democrats claiming victory for stopping an immediate doubling of student-loan interest rates only to raise them even more in a few years shows the dire need for better education if we want to have democracy.
